Training

“No Excuses” is written on the mirror for students to see while training at the Boxing Yard gym.

Why Train with Us?

Boxing is an intense sport that involves fighting with your fists (don’t worry—the only thing that gets hit at The Boxing Yard is a bag). The sport has been around for centuries. Because of its full-body conditioning, it is one of the best cardio workouts available. Boxing training will benefit you in three key ways.

Increased Endurance

Every boxing training session starts with a warm-up, after which comes a traditional set of three-minute rounds of heart-pumping cardio fun with one-minute rests in between. These sessions also incorporate important calisthenics exercises, including push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups (which professional boxers count on for endurance).

Stronger Muscles

Our students get stronger over time because we teach them proper punching techniques. These techniques strengthen and tone the upper body, including the arm, shoulder, and back muscles. A typical workout involves shadowboxing, heavy bag, speed bag, jumping rope, mitt work, and stomach work.

Better Flexibility

Flexibility is a key component to training and conditioning because it helps keep muscles healthy and reduces injuries. Flexibility will also allow you to use your muscles more efficiently and improves speed, power, and endurance. Every session concludes with an intense core and abdomen workout to ensure that every part of your body is exercised.
